The Smooth 9.35 HR Treadmill is part of their “9 Series” of treadmills, which is their non-folding and most “runner” friendly line.  Smooth Fitness has become the number one online retailer of fitness equipment for a reason and you can see why with the Smooth 9.35HR. Smooth treadmills are always getting great reviews so the question isn’t about their quality… The question is where does the 9.35HR fit into Smooth’s respected line up?  This is the most inexpensive model in the “9 Series” however it packs in most of the same features as the 2 9.45 models so it really is a great buy.

The Skinny

The Smooth 9.35HR is a great runner’s treadmill (as long as you aren’t over 6 4″). It’s packed with innovative features and provides one the most forgiving running surfaces on the market thanks to it’s Hydra suspension system.

Let’s dig a little deeper:

Stability: The Smooth 9.35HR is built with a welded tubular steel frame. This makes it ideal for runners no matter how intense their workout.

Exercise Programs: The 9.35HR comes with 6 preset programs: Quick Start, Killer Hills, Interval Speed, Weight Loss, Self Learning/Competition and Heart Rate Control Program.

Comfort: One of the stand out features of the 9 series of Smooth Treadmills is it’s Hydra suspension system. This system  really makes running a lot easier on your knees and joints. It trumps almost any outdoor running surface you can think of. You can also adjust the level of cushioning you want. If you want less give then you can simply adjust the system to any one of 12 different “cushion levels”.

Heart Rate Monitoring: The 9.35HR comes with a Polar wireless chest belt transmitter and built in receiver which is key. Chest belt monitors are a lot more accurate than simple “hand grip monitors”. Using the “heart rate control program” you can really be sure you are exercising in your optimum zone.

Hands Free Speed Control: This is a clever feature that allows you to change speeds with as little interruption as possible. I’m not sure how much time you do in fact actually save lol, after all most other models simply require the tapping of one button, but it’s a cool little gimmick nonetheless.

The Bottom Line

This really is another great treadmill from Smooth. If you are a runner looking for a very smooth run then the 9.35HR is a great choice. The 20 x 55 running surface isn’t the largest we’ve seen so if you’re over 6.4″ you may want to seek out a model with a larger running surface. (The Yowza Smyrna would be a good bet) For most people the 9.35 is a great choice just remember that this is a non folding model and thus will not be able to be stowed away. This is in fact part of what makes it such a stable runner’s treadmill. Combine the welded steel frame with it’s innovative suspension system and you have one amazing running experience.
