The question is, what do you get for the extra 300 bucks with the LS13T? Is it worth the upgrade?

The Skinny
For $1300, this is a great treadmill that will stand up to quite a bit of punishment.
Livestrong treadmills are made by Johnson Health Tech who are “old hat” at making good treadmills. (They make Horizon, Matrix and Vision treadmills as well.) Livestrong has a really good reputation in the industry when it comes to their “build”. They rarely break down and considering they don’t cost an arm and a leg (like say a “Landice”) a lot of people are choosing them despite the fact that they’re relatively new to the market.
In terms of a head to head comparison between the LS13T and the LS10T the main differences lie in power, size and warranty. You do also get a free wireless ,chest strap heart monitor with the LS13T, which is a pretty nice addition. (Chest straps are much more accurate than hand grips and they allow you to train without having to reach for the grips.)
Let’s dig a little deeper…
Extra Long belt: Here’s a difference from the LS10T. An extra long 60″ belt makes this a good choice for runners over 6’4″ and runners who have long legs and love to take long strides. Same width at 20″.
Steep incline and nice sized motor: With a 3.0 HP motor and a 14% incline the LS13T will be able to give even experienced runners a pretty serious workout.
Serious Warranty: 5 years on parts and 2 years in home labor shows Livestrong isn’t fooling around.
Livetrack technology: Livetrack interactive technology as they call it, is a feature somewhat similar to the iFit live system that can be found on some other treadmills (Although not as complex). Basically you can use a usb card to store your workout information and track it on the livestrong website. You can also download new workouts from the website designed by Lance Armstrong’s personal trainer Peter Park. Don’t expect 100 fresh workouts though lol! There are around 4 or 5. With time, hopefully more will be added.
The Bottom Line
The LS13T is a great fit for even serious runners. It’s very quiet and is very stable and is a well built machine that shouldn’t break down often. And if you do have problems it comes with a pretty darn good warranty. Especially at that price point. The 2 years in home labor is particularly nice.
If you’re intermediate runner then the LS10T from Livestrong will probably be enough treadmill. However, if you’re over 6’4″ or you’re a serious trainer who wants that extra power and that extra incline then the LS13T is a great choice. Plus you get the wireless chest strap for free. (around 60$ value) Not to mention the extra long 60″ belt.
For us, the extra $300 bucks is worth it for any serious runner. Especially considering $1299 is a very nice price for a good runner’s treadmill that can take a lot of punishment and keep operating beautifully. We think it’s a runner’s “Best Buy.”
